Animal Dreams (and leaves too)

I've been experimenting recently with a couple of different motifs for earrings recently. One is the use of animal figures as pendants. The other is combining chains with other elements to create more unique visual cores for the pieces. Here are the results of some of those experiments as well as another pair that uses a natural leaf dipped in silver metal.

77th St. Greenmarket

The 77th St. Greenmarket is a flea/sometimes plant/sometimes farmers market in the yard of a school on the Upper West Side. I went a couple Sundays ago in search of inspiring items. While there, I found quite a few objects of interest. There were bright pillow covers (on sale for $5 apiece no less). The turquoise or the pink would look great in a piece with gold metal to accent the vividness.
A table full of excavated glass bottles was manned by a guy named Scott Jordan- who excavates the glass himself and has the pictures in mounds of New York City earth to prove it.
In the southeast corner of the schoolyard was a large collection of mirrors and structural accent pieces made of reproduction tin. The antiqued look is something I hope to recreate in future jewelry projects.
A vendor selling either antique chinoiserie or very good repros had a bucket of what a friend of mine terms 'loin groomers' (real name: Chinese calligraphy brushes).
The trip was fruitful - I will definitely be back to scope out more treasures.

Inaugural Post

Doesn't that sound so official and important? Seriously though, I've been making jewelry for about a year now and selling my designs for about 6 months. I plan to use this blog to document my adventures in jewelry. My goal is: one piece per day and one post per three pieces. So here goes.
My first three pieces (for the blog):
